A vehicle collision east of St. Thomas sent a woman and infant to hospital with life-threatening injuries on Thursday evening.
Elgin County OPP say an SUV was travelling westbound on Lyons Line at about 6:41 p.m. when it struck the back of a grain truck.
"As a result of that collision, the operator of the SUV, along with an infant, were transported by ambulance to a local area hospital and treated for life-threatening injuries," said Acting Sergeant Ed Sanchuk, with West Region OPP.
OPP say the infant is in stable condition as of Friday morning.
The driver of the grain truck was not injured and remained on scene following the collision.
Lyons Line was closed between Imperial Road and Dorchester Road while the OPP traffic unit investigated the cause of the crash. The road has since reopened.
The investigation is ongoing.
