
Coimbatore police gets 17 new patrol vehicles

The new patrol vehicles have GPS (Global Positioning System) connected with the city police modern control room.
The Coimbatore City Police will soon get new patrol vehicles with advanced features to improve patrolling in the city.
At present, the city police have 24 four-wheeler patrol vehicles. Police sources said on Sunday that 17 sport utility vehicles, painted in red colour, contained features such as Global Positioning System facilities that could be connected with the city police control room and disc brakes on the front wheels for better control.
The new patrol vehicles have GPS (Global Positioning System) connected with the city police's modern control room.
The vehicle’s front wheel has disc brakes and all the new vehicles have AC fitted in them.
City Commissioner of Police Pradip Kumar handed over the new vehicles to all the police stations of the Coimbatore City Police on Monday after the registration process was completed.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
