Chennai police file FIR against BJP leader for spreading fake news on Twitter

Chennai police filed an FIR against BJP Yuva Morcha president Vinoj P Selvam for sharing fake information on Twitter with malicious intent to cause unrest.

Chennai Police have registered an FIR against BJP Yuva Morcha President Vinoj P Selvam based on a complaint that Vinoj shared fake information on Twitter with malicious intent to cause unrest.

Ilangovan from Kilpauk filed a complaint at Chennai Police Commissioner’s office against Vinoj P Selvam claiming that he shared fake information on Twitter with the intent of creating enmity amongst people and causing social unrest.

A case has been registered under sections 153, 505(1)(b) and 505(II).

Ilangovan had mentioned a tweet by Vinoj P Selvam in which he shared a caricature portraying a figure resembling CM Stalin standing next to a bulldozer while two more bulldozers were demolishing a temple gopuram (monumental tower at the entrance of temples).
