
Charges laid in fatal 3-vehicle crash on Highbury Avenue north of London

Provincial police have laid charges in a crash that left two people dead and three others with serious injuries north of London, Ont., early Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews were called to Highbury Avenue between 10 Mile Road and Ilderton Road at 5:23 a.m. to reports of a multiple-vehicle collision.
A 23-year-old and 26-year-old died as a result of the collision, according to Middlesex OPP. The names of the victims have not been released.
Eight other people were taken to hospital, including four people with life-threatening injuries.
"A very, very unfortunate set of events," said OPP Const. Jeff Hare. "They are not easy for first responders, and they are certainly not easy for the families that have been devastated."
Hare said the tragic collision is a reminder for drivers to take their time on the roads and drive safely.
Police have charged a 26-year-old Londoner with two counts of dangerous operation causing death and three counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm. The accused is being held in custody.
Investigators have not released the cause of the collision.
Highbury Avenue was closed for nine hours as police investigated, but has since reopened.
