A report of preliminary enquiry purportedly giving clean chit to former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was leaked on Saturday night.

The leak of the preliminary enquiry report, in which the CBI’s investigative officer gave a ‘clean chit’ to former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, has created a storm in the politics of Maharashtra as well as within the Central Bureau of Investigation. The probe report, in which the CBI officer, after his investigation, opined that ‘no cognizable offence could be made out against Anil Deshmukh, is being used by Anil Deshmukh’s camp to create a picture that the FIR against the former Home Minister was lodged due to political reasons.
