CBI files FIR in death case of 24-year-old man who died in UP Police’s custody

The Allahabad High Court had directed the CBI to conduct an investigation into the custodial death of a 24-year-old man, as the court was not satisfied with a probe by the UP Police against its own officers.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an FIR in connection with the alleged custodial death of a 24-year-old man who was apprehended by Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur Police.The CBI has named Baksha Police’s Special Operations Group team, Station Officers Ajay Kumar Singh and Hamrah as accused in the case.The Allahabad High Court had directed the CBI to conduct an investigation in the case as the court was not satisfied with a probe by the UP Police against its own officers.
According to the FIR, the officers from Jaunpur’s Baksha Police Station detained 24-year-old Krishna Yadav on February 11, 2021 in a false case. When the family members of Krishna went to the police station to enquire about him, they were allegedly not given permission to meet him.The family alleged that Krishna was beaten up by the police while he was under detention and the next morning, they were informed that he was dead.ALSO READ: Uttar Pradesh: Saifai Medical College professor, his aide arrested in blood smuggling racket case
