The Miramichi Timberwolves of the Maritime Junior Hockey League were involved in a bus accident on the way to Fredericton Sunday.
The team posted about the crash on its Facebook page.
It says no one on the bus was injured. A team spokesperson said there would be no other comment at this time.
The news was posted on their site around noon. The team was scheduled to play the Fredericton Red Wings Sunday afternoon, but the game was postponed.
New Brunswick RCMP posted a tweet Sunday that Highway 8 near Astle was closed and that traffic was being diverted due to a fatal accident.
CBC has requested further details from RCMP.
That is the highway that runs between Miramichi and Fredericton.
