Broncos’ Alex Singleton makes NFL return less than a month after shock testicular cancer diagnosis
NY Post
A remarkable NFL return is set for Sunday.
Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton returned for the team’s “Sunday Night Football” clash on the road against the Commanders in Week 13 — just three weeks after he underwent emergency surgery for his sudden testicular cancer diagnosis.
“See you Sunday night!” the 31-year-old captioned a photo of himself running out of the tunnel at Mile High.
Singleton shocked the league earlier this month when he announced a random NFL drug test helped detect signs of the cancer, and he was in surgery only a matter of hours after playing in the Broncos’ 10-7 “Thursday Night Football” win over the Raiders in Week 10.
Elevated levels of the hormone hCG [human chorionic gonadotropin] were detected, which caused an alarm because “this was not from anything external,” since Singleton said he was “diligent” about what he put into his body.
He decided to share his story with the hope it would raise awareness and encourage others to seek out regular screening.
