Alas, "Bridgerton's" social season returns after a short hiatus. Following the break, the ton is busy preparing for the next ball, and Mr. Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), whose marriage the queen is betting on, is wallowing in misery and regret after Miss Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha) turned down his offer to be his mistress.

Thompson, in an interview with USA TODAY, teased that the two had "completely misunderstood each other."

"You've got this awful knot now that they've tied themselves in where you're like, 'How the hell are they going to find themselves back together?'" Thompson said. "They've completely misunderstood each other. But I think that's a big break as well. Maybe Benedict hasn't entertained the idea of losing Sophie, and so suddenly."
