Bombay HC upholds acquittal of Nashik man in 25-year-old rape case

Bombay High Court has upheld the acquittal of a Nashik man in a 1997 rape case.
Bombay High Court on Monday upheld an order of the Nashik sessions court acquitting a man in 2000 who was charged for raping his relative’s five-year-old daughter.
The incident, according to the prosecution, had taken place on March 7, 1997. The man was accused of taking the girl to a neighbouring building and raping her. The accused had pleaded not guilty and he and his family had left the residence after the incident.
