
Bombay HC pulls up Maharashtra govt, municipal commissioners over illegal contsructions

The Bombay High Court has said that it will summon municipal commissioners if details on illegal construction will not be provided.
Bombay High Court pulled up the Maharashtra government and the 8 municipal corporations in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) for failing to file affidavits to which would give details about the actions that they have taken against illegal constructions."We will pass orders to make all the commissioners come to court to understand. We did not want mere lip service. It is not that the officers don't understand English. What is this? We passed the order in January and we are in March now. It just shows that they are not interested in this," said a bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta and justice G S Kulkarni.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
