Damascus: Three people were killed and eight others injured, including five children and two women, when a landmine from wartime remnants exploded in Al Kharatah area of Syria's southern Deir Ez Zor desert, the Syrian Civil Defense reported.
The proliferation of landmines and unexploded ordnance remains a leading cause of civilian casualties in Syria, despite ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Defense and engineering teams to remove and neutralise these hazards.
