Bill to allow private players in mining activities tabled in Rajya Sabha

The Union Minister for Coal and Mines, Pralhad Joshi, on Monday introduced the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2021 in Rajya Sabha.

The Union Minister for Coal and Mines, Pralhad Joshi, on Monday introduced the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2021 in Rajya Sabha. This bill will allow private players in mining activities and also help in creating employment opportunities. Joshi said the bill aims to bring changes in the mining and coal sector as it will generate 55 lakh direct and indirect employments. “The government has already consulted several state governments and various stakeholders and after that process, we have brought eight major reforms,” he said.
