Biden proposes $1.7 trillion infrastructure counteroffer to GOP
CBSN
The White House has proposed a $1.7 trillion counteroffer on infrastructure to Senate Republicans, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Friday, a significant decrease from President Biden's initial $2.3 trillion proposal, made "in the spirit of finding common ground."
Psaki announced the new offer while the White House is continuing to negotiate with a group of Republican senators led by GOP Senator Shelley Moore Capito. The group met with Mr. Biden last week, and has continued to meet with administration officials this week. "This proposal exhibits a willingness to come down in size, giving on some areas that are important to the president — otherwise they wouldn't have been in the proposal — while also staying firm in areas that are most vital to rebuilding our infrastructure and industries of the future," Psaki said at the press briefing on Friday.More Related News
