Bengaluru: Loan fraudsters dupe homemaker and her friends of Rs 88 lakh

On the pretext of arranging a loan, two fraudsters cheated a homemaker in Bengaluru and her friends of Rs 88 lakh.
In a shocking incident, a homemaker from Bengaluru and her friends were duped by two fraudsters on the pretext of arranging a business loan or investment.
As per the report published by the Times of India (TOI), she filed a police complaint against two men, stating that they duped her and her friends for Rs 88 lakh.
The 36-year-old victim came across the fraudster's number while surfing the net. As per TOI, the victim met both the accused at a hotel on MG Road in March 2021.
The victim said, “Tiwari and Kumar promised to arrange a business loan or investment of Rs 50 crore. After scanning our business documents, they said it would cost them Rs 95 lakh towards expenses such as processing fee and service charge. A few days later, they told us the processing work had begun and we should pay Rs 10 lakh. Manikantan transferred Rs 10 lakh to Kumar’s bank account on March 25. On April 5, he transferred Rs 65 lakh in two instalments to the suspects. In all, we paid Rs 88 lakh to the duo. Now, both have gone incommunicado."
The police is looking for the absconding suspects.
