A Bengaluru hospital on Friday refuted reports of Sourav Ganguly getting admitted for a cardiac check-up. The BCCI president in the Southern Indian city for the IPL 2022 mega auction.

A private hospital in Bengaluru has refuted rumours of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly getting admitted for a cardiac check-up on the eve of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction. The Bengaluru hospital said that Sourav Ganguly, who is in the city for the IPL 2022 auction, met Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman & Founder, Narayana Health on a brief, courtesy visit.

"Reference to the news of Mr. Sourav Ganguly, President, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) being admitted at Narayana Health City, Bengaluru. We would like to clarify that the news of him being admitted is incorrect," the hospital said in a statement.

"Mr. Sourav Ganguly was at the hospital to meet Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman & Founder, Narayana Health on a brief, courtesy visit since he was in Bengaluru."

The hospital also said Ganguly will be inaugurating a Modern 100-bed ICU on Monday, February 14.

Notably, Ganguly was admitted to a Kolkata hospital in December last year after he tested positive for Covid-19. The BCCI president recovered from the setback and has been busy, carrying out duties of the board.

It was also the third time Ganguly was hospitalised in 2021 after January when he was admitted twice after complaining of chest discomfort. Ganguly had suffered a heart attack while exercising at his Kolkata home and underwent a right coronary angioplasty.

20 days later, Ganguly had similar chest pain, leading to the second round of angioplasty on January 28. During the process, two stents were placed in two arteries. Ganguly resumed work in March and also got himself fully vaccinated against Covid-19. His brother Snehasish Ganguly had also tested positive for Covid-19.
