Babar Azam equals Virat Kohli's T20I captaincy feat, becomes Pakistan's most successful skipper

Pakistan vs England: Babar Azam notched up his 30th win as T20I captain after he led the way with a 66-ball 110 not out in their 10-wicket victory over England. Pakistan level the 7-match series 1-1 after successfully gunning down a 200-run target with ease on Thursday.

There's no stopping Babar Azam. The Pakistan captain returned to form in style with a masterful 110 not out in the 2nd T20I against England in Karachi on Thursday. And a record-setting 10-wicket win in the match meant Babar Azam became the most successful Pakistan captain in the shortest format of the game.

Babar Azam surpassed Champions Trophy-winning former skipper, Sarfaraz Ahmed's tally by notching up his 30th win as Pakistan captain in T20I cricket. Babar has got to 30 victories in 49 matches in the shortest format while Sarfaraz had registered 29 victories in 37 matches between 2016 and 2019.

Babar Azam also equaled Virat Kohli's tally of 30 wins as T20I captain. Kohli, who quit the role after the T20 World Cup last year, had finished with 30 wins in 50 matches. MS Dhoni remains India's most successful T20I captain with 41 victories in 72 matches while Rohit Sharma is at the 2nd spot with 31 wins in 40 matches.

Babar took over as Pakistan's T20I captain in 2019 and has been an effective leader at the top. The star batter has not been bogged down by the burden of captaincy as he has continued to amass runs. Under Babar's captaincy, Pakistan defeated India for the first time in a World Cup match and progressed to the semi-final at last year's T20 World Cup and finished as runners-up at Asia Cup this year.

Babar Azam - 30 wins in 49 matchesSarfaraz Ahmed - 29 wins in 37 matchesShahid Afridi - 19 wins in 43 matchesMohammad Hafeez - 18 wins in 29 matchesShoaib Malik - 13 wins in 20 matches

Babar also set a new record by becoming the first Pakistan batter to score more than one T20I hundred. The right-handed batter has scored 122 against South Africa in Centurion in 2021 and followed it up with the blazing 110 not out on Thursday against England.

Babar and Rizwan shared a 203-run opening stand as Pakistan gunned down a 200-run target without losing a wicket.
