
Avva Award presented in Hubballi to achievers

Deputy CM Shivakumar presents Avva Award in Hubballi to honor achievers, highlighting philanthropic activities and cultural values.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar distributed in Hubballi on Sunday Avva Award to achievers from various walks of life.
The event was organised by the Avva Trust, formed by Chairman of the Legislative Council Basavaraj Horatti.
Mr. Shivakumar described the trust and its activities as a model to the State. It is carrying out various philanthropic activities and humanitarian initiatives. Mr. Horatti has chosen the best possible way to pay respects to his mother, he said.
Mr. Horatti said that till now 68 people have been honoured with the Avva Award.
The award is given to achievers every year in the memory of my mother, he said.
The winners included S.R. Patil, Chandrakanth Waddu, Sangamanath Lokapur, Chote Rehmat Khan, Rekha Hegde, Keshav Hegde, Mahendrakumar Singhi, S. Mahadevayya, Rajeshwari Patil, Basavaraj Shiggavi, Trisha Jadal and Ankita Konnur.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, who too presented the awards, called for preservation of Indian culture that includes the joint family system.
