A postal bus fire in Switzerland's Kerzers kills at least six, with authorities investigating a potential voluntary act as cause.
At least six people died in a coach fire on Tuesday (March 10, 2026) in a small town in western Switzerland, prompting the police to launch a criminal investigation.
Fribourg city police said the bus became engulfed in flames on a road in Kerzers, a town in the canton of Fribourg. "After rushing to the scene, rescue teams noted that the vehicle was totally engulfed in flames," the regional government said in a statement.
Authorities said in a statement that an unspecified "voluntary act could be the cause" of the fire.
Ambulance and helicopter teams ferried three injured people to hospitals, while two others were treated on site.
Authorities said several others were found dead, though the exact number has not been confirmed. An investigation is under way.
