The Registrar General of India (RGI) has turned down a request of the Assam government to continue the financial support to complete the pending work of the National Register of Citizens (NRC). RGI has turned down the Assam government's request to continue financial support and suggested that the Assam government terminates the services of surplus staff and hands over the workload to government employees. RGI has also directed the Assam government to take over all infrastructure and data centre created for the NRC update as government property. The Registrar General of India has asked the Assam government to completing the pending work of NRC beyond March 31 this year.More Related News
