Assam gears up to tackle Omicron; More beds, vaccination for all students

Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said that the state government is preparing to increase the number of beds to 25,000 within a week.
In view of rising cases of the Omicron variant in the country, the Assam government has arranged 9000 special beds including 1000 ICU beds in government hospitals across the state for COVID-19 patients.
Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta on Friday said that the state is fully prepared to tackle any situation. "We have arranged 9000 special beds in the government hospitals of the state for only COVID-19 patients, including 1000 ICU beds, 2600 Oxygen beds. Currently, 1600 ICU beds are available in the government hospitals, but we have arranged 1000 ICU beds only for COVID-19 patients," Keshab Mahanta said.
