The Asian weightlifting championships in Gandhinagar have been postponed to May 12-17 due to ongoing regional conflicts.
The Asian weightlifting championships, scheduled to be held in Gandhinagar from April 1 to 10, was on Tuesday postponed due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and Gulf region.
Following a meeting of key stakeholders, the Asian Weightlifting Federation (AWF) announced that the continental championships was rescheduled due to the current situation. “The competition will now take place from May 12 to 17,” the AWF said in a statement.
The Indian Weightlifting Federation had announced that selection for the Asian Games would be based on the performances at the Asian championships.
