Asia Cup 2022: Hardik Pandya is the main asset of the team, says Deep Dasgupta ahead of India vs Pakistan clash

Asia Cup 2022: Deep Dasgupta called Hardik Pandya the main asset of team India at the Asia Cup. He said that one can keep faith in Hardik and expect the desired results from him.

Former India cricketer Deep Dasgupta called all-rounder Hardik Pandya "the main asset of the team" at the Asia Cup, saying one can keep faith in him and expect the desired results.

Hardik Pandya is in the form of his life as he inspired India to a five-wicket win against Pakistan in a group match of the continental tournament. He rattled Pakistan's middle order and took three wickets before hitting a quickfire 33 not out off 17 balls to take India home.

Deep Dasgupta said that Hardik gave some good results with his bowling during the IPL 2022. At the mid-way of the IPL season, Hardik had started bowling his full quota of overs.

"These days Hardik is the main asset of the team. The way he bowled against Pakistan in the group match was phenomenal. I think, he was not feeling confident in his bowling before the IPL. But from mid IPL 2022 season, he started bowling his full quota of overs, and showed some good results too. He bowled well when India toured for some overseas T20s," Dasgupta said in his preview of the India vs Pakistan match for MyKhel.

"And apart from bowling, Hardik scores big runs in number 5 or 6 positions, and it helps India to set a big score on the board. When India needs 15 runs per over in slog overs, he’s the player in him you can keep the faith and expect the desired results."

Deep Dasgupta further said that Hardik has the "leadership quality" to lead India's bowling department in the coming future. "Hardik has that leadership quality too. He can lead India’s bowling unit in the nearest future, I think. His performance will be a vital for India, not just against Pakistan but in future matches as well."

In a rematch of the first group match, India will take on Pakistan in the Super 4 game on Sunday, September 3.
