As Covid-19 reaches border villages of Kashmir, Army sets up 20-bed hospital in Uri

To battle the surge in Covid-19 cases in border areas of Kashmir, the Army has set up a 20-bed Covid-19 hospital in Uri.

As the Covid-19 disease makes its way into the cities, towns and villages of Kashmir, the Army has stepped in to help the civilians living in areas particularly close to the Line of Control. The Army on Tuesday set up a 20-bed Covid-19 hospital in the remotest area of Uri sector in North Kashmir. The surge in Covid-19 cases has left the civilian infrastructure overloaded which may lead to difficulties for people living in these forward areas. The Army hospital in Uri is aimed at aiding the civilian health authorities. "It's a 20-bedded hospital with all beds having an oxygen facility. The facility has two ventilators and 5 ICU beds. We are in continuous touch with BMO at Uri. We will be getting patients that will be referred by the civil hospitals," said Captain Sachu Jacob, Indian Army, Uri Sector.
