Arrest warrant issued for 1 of 5 accused in plotting to kill son of Dieppe homicide victims

Four of the five people accused of plotting to kill the son of a Dieppe couple found dead in their home six years ago appeared in Moncton provincial court Monday, while a judge issued a warrant for the arrest of the fifth individual.
Janson Bryan Baker, Jesse Todd Logue, Monique Alicia Boyer, Nicholas Daniel Bain and Christopher Allen Lennon are accused of conspiring together to kill Sylvio Saulnier.
Sylvio Saulnier, who died in 2023, is the son of Bernard Saulnier and Rose-Marie Saulnier — who were found dead in their house on Amirault Street in Dieppe, N.B. in September 2019.
The conspiracy charges against the five were laid last week.
The charges are alleged to have taken place between August and September 2019 in Dieppe and elsewhere. RCMP said they stem from an investigation into the deaths of Bernard and Rose-Marie Saulnier.
Baker, 29, was charged in relation to their deaths in 2023, and his trial is scheduled for January.
Bain, 30, is not currently in custody and did not appear in court on Monday. Court documents obtained by CBC News list his address in Dieppe.
Judge Troy Sweet issued a warrant for Bain's arrest, which means he will be held in custody once he is arrested.
Defence lawyer Gilles Lemieux said Lennon, 35, intends to retain him as counsel. He appeared in-person on Monday and is currently being held at the Atlantic Institution in Renous, N.B.
None of the other accused have yet to obtain a lawyer.
Baker, who is in custody at the Southeast Regional Correctional Centre in Shediac, N.B., appeared in-person and confirmed he is applying for legal aid.
Boyer, who is 33 and being held at the Nova Institution for Women in Truro, N.S., appeared by video and is also applying for legal aid.
Logue, 33, is in custody at the Donnacona Institution in southern Quebec and also appeared by video. He could not communicate with the court due to technical issues.
Crown prosecutors Patrick Wilbur and Marc-Andre Desjardins objected to the release of all five charged.
