Another 'Trump Burger' Owner Was Detained By ICE, And His Lawyer Says They’re ‘Waiting For Him To Die’

Iyad Abuelhawa, who founded the President Donald Trump-themed restaurant, was convicted in 2007 on charges accusing him of administering fake flu vaccines.
A convicted felon and owner of a President Donald Trump-themed restaurant chain in Texas who was detained at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility has been denied parole, despite his attorney saying he’s been struggling with serious health conditions.
The man is Iyad Abuelhawa, aka Eddie Hawa, a co-owner of the Trump Burger chain in Texas. This is not the Trump Burger co-owner who made headlines earlier this month after being detained by ICE ― that was his business partner, Roland Beainy.
Abuelhawa, 55, opened a restaurant called the Trump Cafe in Bellville in October 2016 with his wife, Suad Hamedah, according to the Houston Chronicle. The establishment’s signature dish was the “Trump Burger.” The cafe announced its closure in 2017, but Abuelhawa opened a new restaurant, called Trump Burger, three years later in Bellville.
A deep dive into the burger chain by the Houston Chronicle was unclear about when Beainy first became involved, but noted that Hamedah had accused Beainy of wrongfully taking credit in the media for the restaurant idea.
Ultimately, Abuelhawa and Beainy expanded the franchise to multiple locations in the state, according to the Fayette County Record.
