Animal Welfare Board calls on Andhra Pradesh to enforce cock fighting ban after PETA complaint
India Today
The Animal Welfare Board has asked the Andhra Pradesh police to stop illegal cock fighting events after PETA filed a complaint.
Following a complaint filed by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), India, Animal Welfare Board has asked the Andhra Pradesh's Director General of Police (DGP) to put more vigilance and action against offenders and to stop illegal cockfight events.
The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) has also warned that if directions and declarations of the Supreme Court of India banning animal fights, including cockfights, are not effectively complied with, disciplinary action must be taken against erring officials. This is being done to achieve the objectives and purposes of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, 1960.
