DohaHis Highness the Amir of State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani patronised the graduation ceremony of the 43rd batch (Class of 2020) of Qatar University students, which was held at the Universityâs Sports and Events Complex on Sunday.The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani and members of the Universityâs Board of Trustees and Vice-Presidents of the University. HH the Amir honoured the 109 outstanding graduates, while President of Qatar University Dr Hassan Rashid Al Derham (QU) handed over the certificates to 733 graduate students in various disciplines.In a tweet, HH the Amir said, âWe are happy every year in graduating a group of our sons and daughters, students of Qatar University, and we urge them to continue making efforts and to contribute to achieving Qatarâs national vision in building a bright future for present and future generations.âA documentary film was shown about QUâs achievements during the academic year 2019-2020, and the most prominent activities, programmes and research innovations in various fields. Besides, a presentation was made on the universityâs ability to rapidly shift to online teaching during COVID-19 pandemic, the universityâs contributions to the countryâs efforts to combat the pandemic, the development of the universityâs infrastructure, and the opening of the College of Dental Medicine.In a speech, Al Derham said, âWhile we are celebrating the 43rd batch of Qatar University students, our beloved country is witnessing a comprehensive renaissance that would not have been achieved without the accumulation of the efforts exerted by its people and their standing behind its leaders.âHe added that Qatar University had the honour to contribute to this comprehensive renaissance by preparing generations of over 45,000 graduates who have contributed to building the homeland.He pointed out that to uphold production values and spread a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, Qatar University has worked on initiatives to achieve this strategy. For example, the establishment of Qatar University technology company, which is concerned with incubating and developing innovative ideas for the QUâs students and professors, and through which it will establish startup companies that represent an added value to the local economy.For his part, student Hamad Abdullah Al Jumaili delivered a speech on behalf of the graduates, praising QUâs efforts in supporting students throughout their university years and creating a distinct educational environment. He also called on the graduates to exert great efforts in the field of work to serve and build the homeland.The graduation ceremony of the 43rd batch (Class of 2020) of Qatar University students was held amidst precautionary and preventive measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.More Related News
