QNADohaHis Highness the Amir of State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has sent a cable of congratulations to his brother HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the occasion of his election as President of the sisterly United Arab Emirates, wishing him and the brotherly Emirati people further progress and growth. Earlier, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs in the United Arab Emirates announced that, pursuant to Article 51 of the Constitution, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, was unanimously elected as President of the United Arab Emirates to succeed the late HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that the Supreme Council of the UAE held a meeting on Saturday at Al Musharraf Palace in Abu Dhabi, headed by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, where the Council unanimously elected HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates.
