Alzheimer’s could be predicted years before symptoms with new Mayo Clinic model
Fox News
Mayo Clinic scientists have developed a new method to predict Alzheimer's disease risk years before symptoms appear, using brain scans that measure amyloid buildup.
"It's similar to how cholesterol levels help predict heart attack risk." Khloe Quill is a lifestyle production assistant with Fox News Digital. She and the lifestyle team cover a range of story topics including food and drink, travel, and health.
Led by Dr. Clifford Jack Jr., a radiologist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, the team analyzed brain scans, genetics and medical records from more than 5,800 adults to build a model that predicts both a person’s 10-year and lifetime risk of developing cognitive decline.
