Alcohol consumption can directly cause cancer, study says
Fox News
The consumption of alcohol is a direct cause of several kinds of cancer, according to researchers.
To do so, the team used DNA samples from more than 150,000 adults – the majority of whom were women – in the China Kadoorie Biobank study.
The team measured the frequency of low-alcohol tolerability genetic variants – or alleles in Chinese and other East Asian populations that are strongly associated with lower alcohol intake – for the enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) and alcohol dehydrogenase 1B (ADH1B).
