Airbnb's Billionaire Co-Founder Explains Why He Ditched Dems And Went Full MAGA

“I remember just being like, ‘Holy cow, this is crazy,’” said Joe Gebbia.
Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia has revealed why he ditched the Democratic Party and backed Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, citing one particular issue as key.
Gebbia, whose net worth is an estimated $8 billion, told MAGA podcaster Katie Miller that his vote for Trump stemmed from concerns he had in 2021 about the U.S.-Mexico border.
“The activity at the border caught my attention and I just remember thinking, ‘What’s going on with this topic? It seems as if there’s no border,’” he told Miller, a former White House official and the wife of Trump White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, the architect of the president’s most draconian anti-immigration policies.
Gebbia said he sought answers from Democratic contacts but was left “unfilled.” He then turned to former Trump White House senior adviser Jared Kushner, also the president’s son-in-law, who he said “put me on this curriculum of just talking to experts in the field.”
“I remember just being like, ‘Holy cow, this is crazy,’” Gebbia recalled. “Like, ‘This is not right, this is a real problem and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be enforcing the laws of our country and our border.’”
