AI tool scans faces to predict biological age and cancer survival
Fox News
Mass General Brigham has developed an AI tool, FaceAge, that predicts a person's biological age and survival rates. A doctor and AI expert reflects on the tool's potential and risks.
Using a photo of someone’s face, the artificial intelligence tool generates predictions of the subject’s biological age, which is the rate at which they are aging as opposed to their chronological age. "While FaceAge may outperform clinicians in some survival predictions, it should augment human judgment, not override it." Melissa Rudy is senior health editor and a member of the lifestyle team at Fox News Digital. Story tips can be sent to melissa.rudy@fox.com.
FaceAge also predicts survival outcomes for people with cancer, according to a press release from MGB.
