Associate dean at Telangana Agricultural University arrested for accepting ₹1 lakh bribe for issuing seed license in Hyderabad.
An associate dean of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh in Hyderabad on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
The accused, identified as M. Goverdhan, associate dean (Agronomy) at the College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, was apprehended during an operation by the ACB City Range-II unit. Officials said he had demanded the amount from a complainant for issuing seed licence and ensuring no obstruction from the Agriculture Department officials in the complainant’s business.
According to the ACB, the officer had earlier accepted ₹25,000 from the complainant and subsequently demanded an additional ₹1 lakh and was caught while accepting it. The tainted cash was recovered from his possession, and chemical tests on his fingers returned positive.
He was arrested and produced before the special court for ACB cases in Nampally for judicial remand.
The ACB said the case is under investigation and the identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
