Agra lawyers refuse to defend Kashmiri students accused of celebrating Pak’s cricket win against India

Three Kashmiri students in Agra were booked for sedition and arrested after they allegedly celebrated Pakistan’s win against India in a T20 World Cup cricket match last week. Lawyers' associations in the city have now refused to defend the students in court.

Three Kashmiri students studying at Raja Balwant Singh College in Agra were booked for sedition and arrested after they allegedly celebrated Pakistan’s win against India in a T20 World Cup cricket match last week. The behaviour of the lawyers is unacceptable & the role of the police is deeply suspect. With polls around the corner rather than make friends with Kashmiri students the powers that be are happier using them as political cannon fodder.

The students were reportedly heckled by BJP youth wing members when they were brought to court on Thursday.
