Afghan nationals who risked their lives to work with the U.S. government over the 20-year war are pleading with the Biden administration to get them and their families out of their country before it’s too late. A month after President Joe Biden announced the withdrawal of all remaining U.S. troops from Afghanistan by Sept. 11 of this year, the nation is facing an uptick in violence by the Taliban against both Afghan security forces and civilians. While the Pentagon announced last week that it was considering planning for the evacuation of Afghans who had worked with the U.S. government, a formal plan has not been put in place. That leaves thousands of Afghans who worked with the U.S. terrified they’ll face retaliatory attacks from the Taliban ― and that the U.S. won’t help them.More Related News
