Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan underscored the significance of adaptability in contemporary warfare, stating that survival in today’s battlespace is determined not by the fittest but by those who can transform and seize emerging opportunities. He made these remarks while addressing candidates of the Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC-20) at the College of Defence Management (CDM) in Secunderabad.
Delivering a talk on ‘National Security Architecture and Change Management in the Year of Defence Reforms,’ General Chauhan highlighted the need for resilience and visionary leadership amid rapidly evolving global power dynamics, non-traditional security threats and technological advancements. He particularly highlighted the impact of artificial intelligence and other disruptive technologies in shaping modern security challenges.
The CDS provided insights into the functioning of the Department of Military Affairs (DMA) and its ongoing transformative initiatives aimed at fostering jointness, integration and synergy within the armed forces. He elaborated on the roadmap for a transformative year, marked by the articulation of Vision 2047 for the armed forces, the development of joint doctrines and the formulation of defence and military policies.
