Actor G. Prabhu, son of late Tamil actor Sivaji Ganesan seeks to lift Madras High court order on bungalow dispute with brother Ramkumar’s son, claiming sole ownership based on family agreement.
Actor G. Prabhu (68), younger son of renowned thespian ‘Sivaji’ Ganesan alias V.C. Ganesan, has filed an application before the Madras High Court urging it to lift an order passed by it on February 10, 2025 attaching a portion of his sprawling bungalow named ‘Annai Illam’ at T. Nagar in Chennai.
The application is expected to be listed before Justice Abdul Quddhose on April 3 when senior counsel P.R. Raman, assisted by advocate Sandesh Saravanan, would be representing the actor who claimed to be the sole owner of the bungalow pursuant to a mutual agreement between his siblings.

While dealing with a monetary dispute between a finance company and the thespian’s elder son G. Ramkumar as well as the latter’s son R.G. Dusshyanth, the High Court had ordered attachment of a portion of the property since the company claimed that the elder son had one-fourth of share in it.
However, explaining the sequence of events, Mr. Prabhu told the court his father had purchased the property from Hajee A.J. Jalaluddin Sahib on August 15, 1959. The thespian had enjoyed it with absolute right until he died of natural causes on August 21, 2001 leaving behind his wife, two sons and two daughters.
During his lifetime, Sivaji Ganesan had executed an unregistered will on June 23, 1999 bequeathing the bungalow ‘Annai Illam’ exclusively to Mr. Prabhu in the confidence that that the latter would let his mother Kamala Ganesan as well as other family members reside over there, if they so desire.
However, after the death of Kamala Ganesan on November 2, 2007, disputes arose between the thespian’s sons on one side and the daughters on the other side over sharing the movable and immovable properties left behind by their parents. His sisters filed a suit for partition in 2021.
