Aaron Rodgers hits back at Terry Bradshaw after Steelers legend called his signing a ‘joke’
NY Post
Aaron Rodgers has plenty of respect for Terry Bradshaw, who spent 14 years with — and won four Super Bowls for — the same Steelers franchise that Rodgers is now tasked with quarterbacking.
But Bradshaw, who shredded Pittsburgh’s decision to pursue Rodgers in May as “a joke,” is only basing those judgements off perception and “doesn’t know me,” Rodgers said in an interview with NFL Network on Saturday.
“I’ve known Terry for a long time, being a part of Fox,” Rodgers said. “Terry’s a legend. He’s an absolute legend. He won four Super Bowls. He’s had a legendary career in the media. But Terry, like a lot of people, doesn’t know me. So he’s got an idea of what he thinks about me based on what I’ve done, the documentary, what I’ve said, darkness retreat, whatever the hell you want to talk about.”
When Bradshaw appeared on Arkansas’ 103.7 The Buzz in May, Rodgers’ one-year, $13.65 million deal was still more than a week away from being official, and the Steelers were still waiting — and waiting, and waiting — on Rodgers to decide whether he’d play a 21st NFL season or walk away.
And when the 41-year-old opted to play what he acknowledged will likely be his final campaign, he became tasked with erasing the obstacles and struggles from his last two seasons with the Jets — a torn Achilles just four snaps into 2023 and some of the worst numbers of his career in 2024, respectively — and ensure that Pittsburgh’s 21-year streak of not having a losing season remains intact.
Bradshaw, though, would’ve preferred a different option at quarterback.
