A.P. State Food Commission member inspects anganwadi centres, issuing show-cause notices for negligence in Prakasam district's child nutrition services.
Andhra Pradesh State Food Commission member Lakshmi Reddy Endela on Wednesday directed Prakasam district officials to issue show-cause notices to staff at the Medarametla and Bodduvanipalem anganwadi centres in Korisapadu mandal
After learning that children had not received their daily milk or eggs every two days since February 1, he inspected the B.C. Colony Anganwadi centre in Medarametla. When asked about the situation, anganwadi teacher Anuradha explained that the stock had not arrived yet.
Mr. Lakshmi Reddy also inquired about the implementation of the menu, to which anganwadi supervisor Aruna Devi failed to give a proper reply. He ordered Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) to issue show-cause notices to the supervisor and teacher for being negligent in their duties.
He also conducted a surprise inspection at the ration shop in the same village. He instructed that the shop should be run in accordance with the rules and cautioned that no irregularities should be committed. After noticing water bubbles and other items in the shop, he asked the concerned persons to immediately remove them.
Later, he inspected the implementation of the Dokka Seethamma Mid-Day Meal scheme at Mandal Parishad Primary School in Bodduvanipalem. He himself served meal to the students and inspected two anganwadi centres in the premises.
During the inspection, he noticed that the stock of eggs was surplus. One centre had 93 eggs and the second had 30 eggs in January. He inquired about the issue and ordered the CDPO to issue show-cause notices to both teachers and supervisors.
