70-year-old monk convicted of molesting teen dies by suicide in Mumbai

A 70-year-old monk who was convicted of molesting a teenager died by suicide in Mumbai on Thursday.

A 70-year-old monk who was convicted of molesting a 19-year-old woman has died by suicide at a Jain temple in Mumbai's Ghatkopar East area. The deceased, identified as, Manhar Muni Desai, left behind a suicide note which said that in his dream his Guru told him that, "his work on this earth was over and he was to return for doing bigger things,” the Indian Express reported. He was sentenced to two years in jail by a sessions court earlier this month. The order is yet to reach the lower due to the pandemic -- causing a delay in his arrest.
