6 NDRF teams deployed as Odisha rivers flow above danger mark, Hirakud dam opens more gates

Two rivers- Jalaka at Mathani and Baitarani near Akhuapada are flowing above their danger levels. The Odisha government has rushed NDRF and ODRAF teams to vulnerable districts.
Anticipating flooding of the Mahanadi river system due to extremely heavy rainfall, the Odisha government has rushed National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) teams to vulnerable districts. It also opened more sluice gates of the Hirakud reservoir to discharge excess water from the dam.
Two major rivers- Jalaka at Mathani and Baitarani near Akhuapada-are flowing above their danger levels.
