Mamata Banerjee met Congress president Sonia Gandhi for tea at her residence on Wednesday. She said they discussed a range of issues, including the Pegasus snooping row, Opposition unity and the country's political condition.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee termed her meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi "very positive" and hoped that a positive result would come out of it in the near future. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also present during this meeting. This was Mamata Banerjee's first meeting with Sonia Gandhi after her party registered a landslide victory in the West Bengal Assembly election in May this year.
