Police have charged five people with plotting to kill the son of a Dieppe couple found dead in their home six years ago.
Conspiracy to commit murder charges were laid in Moncton provincial court on Monday against Janson Bryan Baker, Jesse Todd Logue, Monique Alicia Boyer, Nicholas Daniel Bain, and Christopher Allen Lennon.
It’s alleged the five conspired to kill Sylvio Saulnier.
RCMP said in a news release the charges stemmed from an investigation into the deaths of Sylvio Saulnier’s parents, 78-year-old Bernard Saulnier and 74-year-old Rose-Marie Saulnier.
The two were found dead in their home on Amirault Street in Dieppe on Sept. 7, 2019.
Baker, 29, was charged in 2023 with two counts of first-degree murder alleging he killed Bernard and Rose-Marie Saulnier.
Baker’s jury trial on those charges is scheduled to start in January and last three months. His lawyer, Brian Munro, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“While the initial first-degree murder charges marked a significant step forward in this investigation, our work did not end there,” Cpl. Matthew Leblanc-Smith, a spokesperson for the RCMP said in the news release.
“This has been a complex and far-reaching investigation, and our members have remained committed to uncovering every piece of the truth. We will continue to pursue justice for the victims and their family.”
The RCMP did not return a request for an interview about the new charges.
The five charged Monday are scheduled to appear in Moncton court on Dec. 1.
Sylvio Saulnier died in 2023. At the time, police told CBC News his death wasn’t believed to involve a crime.
