30 people with COVID-19 in Waterloo region hospitals, 1 new death reported Monday

There were 30 people with COVID-19 in Waterloo region's three hospitals, Monday's update from public health showed.
There were 14 people in the intensive care unit. The region noted people in the ICU may no longer be infectious with the virus, but do require ongoing care from it.
There was one death reported on Monday, a man in his 80s. It brought the total number of deaths of people with COVID-19 in the region to 396.
The number of active cases dropped by 186 to 545 between Friday and Monday while the region reported 118 new cases over the weekend. The number of cases is believed to be an underestimate as not everyone is eligible for testing to confirm if they have COVID-19.

The region's vaccination dashboard, which is updated on Mondays and Thursdays, showed:
For children aged five to 11, 54.6 per cent have received one dose of the vaccine and 34.8 per cent have their second shot.
The region announced that starting this week, the Pinebush vaccination clinic in Cambridge will move to two days a week: Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The clinic in Wellesley will wrap up operation after its clinic on Saturday. The Boardwalk clinic in Waterloo will continue to operate seven days a week.
