
3-year-old dead, woman injured after pedestrians struck by vehicle near Cambridge plaza

A three-year-old girl is dead and a 31-year-old woman suffered serious injuries after they were hit by a vehicle near a Cambridge, Ont., plaza on Thursday afternoon.
Police were called to the plaza on Cedar Street around 12:50 p.m. ET after it was reported pedestrians had been struck.
The two were transported to a local hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. The three-year-old died; the 31-year-old Cambridge woman sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle's driver, a 75-year-old Cambridge man, was not injured.
The roadway was closed for several hours while officers investigated.

It marks the second pedestrian death in the city within a month.
On Nov. 20, police were called to the corner of Langs Drive and Industrial Road. A 34-year-old woman who was struck by a vehicle was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and shortly after, she was pronounced dead.
