
3 arrested for assaulting Muslim man in Kanpur over charges of forced conversion

Police have arrested three people for allegedly beating up a Muslim man over charges of forcing forced religious conversion. One of them is reportedly affiliated to the Vishva Hindu Parishad.
The Kanpur Police has arrested people for allegedly beating up, parading a Muslim man and forcing him to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' over allegation that he was forcing a Hindu woman to convert to Islam. In it, the man's little daughter can be seen crying and clinging on to him as the mob assaults him. She repeatedly pleads the mob to spare her father but to no avail.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
