2022 Hyundai Tucson N Line, plug-in hybrid models introduced

The Hyundai Tucson hybrid models will be sold alongside the internal-combustion and N Line models in the North American market.

Hyundai announced the addition of N Line and Plug-in Hybrid models to its 2022 Tucson line-up that will be produced in Ulsan, Korea, and will be available for the North American market in the next few months. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson N Line debuts with an aggressive exterior and interior with design elements inspired by the brand’s motorsport division. Additionally, the Tucson hybrid models will be sold alongside the Internal-combustion and N Line Models in the North American market. Hyundai claims the Tucson with its hybrid powertrain can travel up to 50km solely on its electric motor. The design elements that differentiate the 2022 Hyundai Tucson N Line from its siblings is the N Line grille upfront with black headlamp bezels, the N line badge on the front fender that goes well with the sporty exterior of the N Line. In profile, the 19-inch black alloy wheels are unique to the Tucson N Line and so are the black side mirrors and window surrounds. At the rear, the Tucson N Line features a dual-tipped exhaust with N Line rear spoiler to give it an overall sporty and bold appearance. Hyundai is offering the Tucson N Line in exclusive exterior color options as well such as Ash Black, White Pearl, Titan Gray, and Red Crimson. The inside continues the sporty feel from the outside with the N Line logos on the steering wheel, shifter, and on the leather and fabric seats as well. The red accents on seats and door trim look refreshing and premium, while the black headliner, metal pedals, and door sill plates are signature N Line features. Hyundai has also provided the latest generation of Bose audio system. Now, the 2022 Tucson hybrid’s pièce de résistance is its 1.6-litre turbocharged, direct-injected hybrid powertrain coupled to a 13.8kWh battery pack that offers 50km of pure electric range. The SUV also supports Level 2 charging using a 7.2kW onboard charger and like most plug-in hybrids, it is built for home charging instead of public charging stations. This synergy allows the Tucson hybrid to develop a combined power output of 258bhp, mated to Hyundai’s PHEV-tuned 6-speed automatic gearbox that also does duty on the standard Tucson. With its HTRAC all-wheel-drive system, the Tucson hybrid not only offers an impressive tow rating of 907kg but with its specialized modes can tackle different terrain and weather conditions, including snow.
