2 Indian teams playing in different countries could be the norm in near future: Dhumal

BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal said that India could play more bilateral tours fielding two different squads in the near future to deal with the restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

India could play more bilateral series fielding two different squads in the immediate future to deal with the restrictions created by the Covid-19 pandemic, says Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) treasurer Arun Dhumal. While an Indian team led by Virat Kohli will be in the United Kingdom for their World Test Championship final against New Zealand and five-Test series against England, another team led by Shikhar Dhawan will be touring Sri Lanka for a limited overs series over the next two months. "It is a definite possibility that India could play another limited overs tour with a younger squad while the main team players are playing elsewhere or need a break. The COVID-19 related restrictions also need to be factored in," Dhumal told PTI.
