2,000 police personnel will be deployed for ‘Chandanotsavam’, says Police Commissioner
Commissioner of Police Shankabratha Bagchi said that around 2,000 police personnel including Law & Order, traffic, crime and other wings will be deployed as part of bandobast during the annual ‘Chandanotsavam’ festival of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Simhachalam scheduled to be held on April 30.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Bagchi said that the main motto of the police is to ensure the general devotees do not face any inconvenience in the queue lines. He said that the police will put efforts to make sure the free darshan, ₹300, ₹1,000 and ₹1,500 queue lines move freely.
“We have inspected the security arrangements several times and will check again. Some lapses were reported two years ago. We had taken them into consideration also,” he said.
Mr. Bagchi said that adequete number of RTC buses are being arranged up and down the hill, which will transport the devotees to the temple.
It was learnt that a control room was also being set up to monitor the crowd movement and traffic on the hill. The control room will be manned by a senior police officer.
